This article isn't about all the crazy tricks you can do to increase your MPG. I don't recommend driving around without the air conditioning on, never driving above 45 MPH, or ripping the back seats out of your vehicle. There are better options for increasing your gas mileage.  I encourage you to keep your vehicle in one piece and still be practical about driving in the real world.

How Do I Increase My Gas Mileage?

Drive Smart- Pay attention to yourself when you drive. Excessive braking or riding the brake pedal not only wear down your brakes but it also hurts your fuel economy. Go easy on the brake pedal and the gas pedal. A slow steady acceleration will save you at the pump.

Maintain Your Tires- Your tires affect gas mileage but a little maintenance will go a long way. Without the proper PSI, your tires will create more resistance against the ground. This will slow you down and cost you money! 

Keep the Seats- You can reduce the weight of your vehicle in a practical way. Keep your car free of excess stuff. Trash, clothing, half empty water bottles, and other personal items can add up. Instead of removing seats or bumpers...yes, I've seen it done... remove the practical things that might be adding a little weight to the car.

Maintain Your Vehicle- There are several auto maintenance items that can help your vehicle burn gasoline more efficiently. Spark Plugs, Fuel Lines, Motor Oil Changes, Oxygen Sensors, Air Filters, and Tire Maintenance are all key to good fuel economy. Have your vehicle checked on a regular basis!
